Wyvern Academy selected to host roadshow about the future of the school curriculum and the assessment process
Wyvern Academy in Darlington, part of Consilium Academies, is one of just nine schools selected to host an important roadshow about the future of the school curriculum and the assessment process.
The government’s Curriculum and Assessment Review is looking at the barriers that hold children back in life and wants to make sure that what they learn in school, and how they are assessed, meets their needs and is fit for purpose.
To make sure they get a wide range of thoughts and opinions, the review team is running a series of roadshows across each region in England and Wyvern Academy has been chosen as host in the North East region.
The academy will host the event on Tuesday 26th of November from 1pm until 4pm. You can register to join the event, here. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from the chair of the Review, Professor Becky Francis CBE, as well as other panel members. There will be opportunity to ask questions, discuss key topics and themes with other attendees, and feedback your thoughts directly to the panel.
A warm welcome will be given to the government’s review team
The events will gather views from experts, teachers and employers with a view to improving outcomes for all pupils.
Those who attend will hear directly from the Chair of the Review, Professor Becky Francis CBE, as well as other panel members.
Michael McCarthy, CEO of Consilium Academies, said: “We are very pleased to have been chosen to host this roadshow at Wyvern Academy and we look forward to welcoming the government’s review team.
“At Consilium Academies, we are committed to enriching the lives of all those involved in our trust through an ambitious, student-centred approach to education, and this roadshow is a wonderful opportunity for us to help shape the future of education for future generations.
“We look forward to facilitating this unique opportunity at Wyvern for local parents, teachers and other professionals to help influence and transform our children’s life opportunities.”
Chris Zarraga, Director of Schools North East, said: “As Schools North East pointed out earlier in the academic year, North East school leaders are critically underrepresented when it comes to national education policy.
“It’s encouraging that the government’s review team is running a series of roadshows across each region in England in order to get a wide range of thoughts and opinions, and we’re pleased to see this happening in the North East.”
