SCHOOLS NorthEast Patron’s Dinner 2016
Last night (Wednesday 16 March 2016) Head Teachers in the region gathered for the SCHOOLS NorthEast annual black tie event in celebration of our Patron Lord David Puttnam and the teaching profession.
The 250 guests enjoyed a night of fine wine and delicious food, in the company of our Chairman John Hardy and boxing World Champion Glenn McCrory, as well as Professor of Education Steve Higgins, who spoke on behalf of our main sponsors the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM), Durham University.
Mr McCrory, who started his boxing career as a schoolboy youth champion, took the stage and spoke to our audience from the heart, but with humour.
The boxing legend told Head Teachers of his rocky road to success and urged them to inspire pupils to follow any career they are passionate about, regardless of whether it is academic enough or not.
Churchill Community College Choir also delighted us with their excellent selection of covers and beautiful performance.
The night came to a close when the winners to our “Fictional teachers” quiz being announced and awarded.
We would like to thank the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM), Durham University for all their support and for choosing to sponsor this event yet again. We would also like to thank the following Commercial Supporters:
