Sacred Heart best set of GCSE results in five years

Sacred Heart, in Redcar, are celebrating their best set of results in five years.

81% of pupils achieved a grade 4 or higher in English and Maths and 63% of pupils achieved a grade 5 or higher in English and Maths.

Incredible Achievements

Emily Farrell has secured 6 grades 9s in her GCSEs, an incredible achievement after five years of consistently outstanding effort. She has also achieved the highest grade possible of Distinction* for BTEC Engineering and Computer Science. Emily, a former pupil of St Bede’s Catholic Primary School in Marske, showed impressive knowledge across a wide selection of subjects, including English Language, Geography, Maths, Religious Education and Science.

She really enjoyed studying Geography whilst at Sacred Heart and has applied to study A-level, Geography, Geology and Biology at college. Emily said:

“I am completely shocked and overwhelmed with my results, but I am happy to be able to do the A-levels in the subjects I love.”

Jacob Bailes, a former pupil of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Loftus, has made fantastic progress during his time at Sacred Heart.

He has excelled across a wide range of subjects and has achieved a set of GCSE results to be proud of with grade 9s in Chemistry and Maths and grade 8s in French, History and PE. Jacob said:

“I am very happy and so pleased with my results. I am going to continue to study A-level PE, Chemistry and Maths at college.”

Ben Guy secured a grade 9 in Maths and impressive grades 8 in Biology, Chemistry,

English Language and Literature, French, History, Physics and Religious Education.

Ben joined the Sacred Heart family from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Loftus – his determination and hardwork over the last five years has been rewarded. Ben said:

“I am very happy with my results and I am shocked that I did better than I expected. I am looking forward to continuing to study Maths and Science at college .”

Huge thankyou

Sacred Heart Executive Head Teacher, Michael Burns commented:

“We are absolutely thrilled with the grades our pupils achieved this summer! The pupils have shown outstanding resilience, determination and focus during their time at Sacred Heart which should be commended given the disruption the pandemic has caused. A huge thank you to our staff who have worked incredibly hard to achieve these results, always going ‘above and beyond’ for the pupils in our care. Our parental support over these last two years especially, has been crucial to the pupils’ achievements, we are so grateful for the contribution they make to the success of the Sacred Heart family. Thank you all. We wish every single pupil the very best for the bright and successful future they have ahead of them.”

If any Year 11 pupils are interested in continuing their post-16 education within the Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust family, there are limited places available for September at Trinity Sixth Form. Students can email 6thform@trinity.npcat.org.uk and someone will contact them to discuss their options.
