Pride and progress as Beaumont Hill students receive results

STUDENTS at a school for children with special educational needs collected their exam results with pride after achieving a major milestone in their learning.

Staff at Beaumont Hill Academy, part of the Education Village Academy Trust, Darlington, celebrated with pupils and families as they opened their results.

Principal Adiran Lynch said: “We are really proud of our students. This is the best part of the job when you see pupils receive their results.

“Over 90 per cent of all qualifications we entered pupils for are at the level that we expected, or even above that, and almost 50 per cent of them have exceeded their targets, which is brilliant.

Beaumont Hill Academy is a specialist provider for children with special educational needs aged two to 19. As part of the Education Village Academy Trust, the aim is to develop self-assured, confident, happy and positive young people.

Pupil Samuel Bell said: “I was quite nervous about getting my results but, overall, I feel I have done a good job. The teachers provided help when we needed it.

“The results show how far I have come. I have had to work really hard to get them and feel like I have done rather well.”

Ollie Emmott said: “I am really happy with my results. I feel really proud. The teachers have been amazing; they have helped me a lot making sure I get my work done on time.”

Erin Calvert said: “I am really proud of my results. The teachers have been really supportive in helping me getting through my studies.”

Adrian added: “There are a couple of students within the cohort who didn’t start with us until later on in their educational life and they have done exceptionally well, which is testament to their hard work.

“This is just a small part of their achievements at Beaumont Hill. We spend a lot of time developing the students’ broader skills to prepare them for the next steps in life. The progress they have made has been incredible.”
