Easington students achieve Academy’s best results ever
This morning students, parents and carers, and Easington Academy staff gathered to celebrate as the Year 11 cohort achieved the East Durham school’s best-ever results.
Despite a reported national drop in grades this year following a return to pre-pandemic levels, students at Easington Academy continued to break records with almost a third of all results at grade 7 or above.
The Academy saw some fantastic performances which will now unlock students’ next steps for further study, apprenticeships, employment and training. The results illustrate Easington Academy’s reputation in the community for delivering a high-quality education to its young people.
There were some outstanding individual performances including Oscar, Miles, Eve, Autumn, Robert and Chloe who between them achieved 43 grade 8/9s. All of these students will now go on to study A-levels at Durham Sixth Form Centre.
Oscar is looking forward to studying maths, further maths, computer science and physics; Miles will study psychology, English language and biology; Eve plans to study maths, business studies and English language; Autumn has chosen business studies, media, biology and chemistry; Robert will study history, English language and economics and Chloe intends to study physics, maths and English language.
Speaking of the success, Headteacher, Nicola Falconer, said:
“I am incredibly proud of our students, not only for their impressive results but for the people they have become during their time at Easington and Academy. They have faced many challenges throughout their school lives but have demonstrated just how resilient and capable they are. It was lovely to see everyone come together to celebrate this morning with big smiles on their faces. A big thanks must also go to our dedicated staff for providing both academic and personal support to our students throughout their time with us and also to parents and carers for their ongoing support. I look forward to hearing about their inevitable future achievements.”
