Speakers announced for regional careers guidance conference

ONE of the country’s foremost experts on highly effective careers engagement in schools and a leading light from the business community are among a high-quality line-up of speakers at the region’s annual careers guidance conference.

FutureReady 2017 will take place Thursday 9 February at Hardwick Hall Hotel in County Durham and will focus on the knowledge and experiences, along with the key attributes and attitudes, a young person needs to succeed in the 21st century.

facebookSCHOOLS NorthEast is delighted to confirm Dr Anthony Mann, Director of Policy and research at Education and Employers, and Ian Dormer CBE, Managing Director of Rosh Engineering Ltd & former national Chairman of the Institute of Directors, as the keynote speakers at this year’s FutureReady Conference.

Dr Anthony Mann was responsible for multi-million pound policy development and delivery in high education, regional skills, post-New Deal employment options, national e-learning strategies, and engaging employers in 14-19 curriculum delivery.

Previously he was appointed to the Board of ONE North East and chaired Business Link Tyne & Wear.

The conference will feature sessions for both primary and secondary schools on insights from research to practice, future jobs and local opportunities, employability skills for SEND pupils, school-business engagement and more.

For the first time FutureReady will include a business networking session attended by 35 businesses who are looking to work with schools. This will provide delegates with the opportunity to form school-business links to work together and prepare young people for the world of work.
