School Business Leaders Day: A heartfelt thank you to the professionals who keep our region’s schools thriving

Today is a very special Friday indeed… Happy School Business Leaders Day 2024!

Before we get lost in wrapping things up for the weekend, let’s first take a moment to honour and celebrate the unsung heroes who play a critical role in the day-to-day running —  and the significant triumphs — of our region’s schools.

Every member of staff can be credited for making our schools and trusts great, but today is specifically about recognising the hard work and dedication of our SBLs. You really are the backbone of the school community!

A school or trust would cease to exist if it wasn’t for the HR manager expertly handling all employment related matters, or the  Finance officer managing the day-to-day financial transactions of the school.

Similarly, the entire system would crumble if there was no one overseeing the school building maintenance, ensuring the right resources reach the chalk-face, or keeping the finances strong enough to stretch as far as they need to.

What you do really and truly matters, so please accept a huge, sincere THANK YOU from all of the team at Schools North East. We’re looking forward to seeing – and celebrating – all 300 of you at next week’s School Business Management Conference 2024.

Contributions that should never be overlooked — not just today, but every day

Celebrating School Business Leaders Day is not just about acknowledging the relentless effort our SBLs put in every single day, but it’s also about truly understanding the significant impact they have on our region’s education system.

Their diligence ensures that our schools have the resources they need so that our teachers can teach to the best of their abilities, and our students can excel at learning.

Right now is our collective opportunity to ensure that School Business Leaders Day 2024 is filled with recognition, appreciation, and a heartfelt thanks to the incredible professionals who keep our schools thriving.

Chris Zarraga, Director of Schools North East, said: “I want to extend a sincere thank you to our incredible School Business Leaders for their unwavering hard work and dedication.

“Your tireless efforts behind the scenes ensure that our schools run smoothly and efficiently every single day, and we appreciate everything you do to create a safe, well-resourced, and successful environment for our students and staff.”

Who in your school or trust would you like to thank? A simple hand shake, a note of admiration, or a special event in their honour can go a long way in making these leaders feel as valued and recognised as they deserve!

Join us next week for the School Business Management Conference 2024

At Schools North East, we’re always thinking of new ways in which we can help our region’s school staff excel – including School Business Leaders.

A fortunate stroke of serendipity, our School Business Management Conference is now less than one week away!

Join us next Thursday (13 June) at St James’ Park and dive into the minds of industry leaders through insightful keynote sessions, collaborate with colleagues through ample networking opportunities, and discover new ways to advance.

Not only will we be hearing from influential leaders such as Stephen Morales (Chief Executive, ISBL) and Jonathan Peach (Motivational Speaker, The Art of Being Brilliant), but session topics throughout the day include strategic asset management, menopause in the workplace, flexible working requests, managing risk in schools and academies, and so much more! View full session previews here.

Year on year, this conference has proven to be a fun and engaging way to foster progress across critical strands (HR, supporting outcomes, managing risk, and finance), not just within individual roles, but the wider North East school community as a whole.

The theme of this year’s conference is Great North School Business Leaders: Partners in Progress. To be successful ‘partners in progress’ we must forge meaningful connections with peers and mentors, and always be on the lookout for the next trend or hack.

We really hope you’ll extend the celebrations of School Business Leaders Day 2024 by joining us in Newcastle next week.

Book your place here.
