Pupils fear future success will be ‘hit by parental income and Brexit’

Pupils are prepared for a more challenging workplace due to the rise of automation but harbour fears they will be held back by parental income, a lack of contacts and Brexit, research shows.

A YouGov survey of 11-18 year olds conducted on behalf of Speakers for Schools, reveals that young people are optimistic about their futures but have real concerns about a raft of barriers that will prevent them from succeeding in later life.

The poll of just under 1,000 pupils reveals that well over two-thirds (71%) are expecting it to be tougher to find a job in 2030 due to the automation of jobs and the growth of artificial intelligence.
