These results are a testament not only to the dedication, resilience, and talent of the students, but also to the tireless commitment of the school’s staff and the unwavering support of families and the wider community. Ponteland High School Headteacher, Stefan McElwee said: “We are again delighted with the results achieved by our Year 13 students this year, building on the high achievement of our students in 2024. Our students are consistently producing high outcomes, outstripping those achieved by our students pre-pandemic.

This year, almost 50% of all grades achieved were in the higher grade categories of A* – B with 76% of all grades at A*-C, our highest ever achievement in this measure, as a school.

We are of course delighted with the results and the achievements of every individual student who will receive their exam grades today. A Level and A Level equivalent qualifications are amongst the most challenging qualifications our students will undertake during their academic careers. Their fantastic results are testament to their effort, resilience and talents over the past two years. They deserve their success today.

I am very proud of their efforts and achievements. It has been wonderful to share in their success this morning; we have been surrounded by delighted faces of students and parents. Our Sixth Form students are wonderful ambassadors for our school and I am so pleased their efforts and contributions have been rewarded in the outstanding exam results we are all celebrating today.

I must also acknowledge the outstanding teaching and support of our staff in ensuring our students can celebrate their results today. They have worked tirelessly to ensure each individual student has been well-taught and supported throughout their A Level studies. They can be proud of their efforts today.

Today is a special day, celebrating with the students and their parents as they enjoy their exam results and begin to make exciting plans for their next journey into further studies at university, apprenticeships or, in some cases, brilliant gap years travelling the world. I would like to wish each and every one of them every success in the future and I look forward to hearing of their progress in the coming years.

Mr Stefan McElwee.

Headteacher.”
