New Principal while colleges await merger decision

Joanna Bailey has been appointed as the interim Principal of Prior Pursglove College, taking over from Judy Burton who has now retired from the post.

Ms Bailey is also currently Principal of Stockton Sixth Form College.

The two colleges have strong ties and have worked together before. A consultation was launched in September 2015 to consider an official merger.

It was announced at the time that Ms Bailey would…

…be the Principal of the new college if the proposed merger was given the green light.

In 2013, Ms Bailey was appointed Principal of Stockton Sixth Form college to “turn around its fortunes” after being given a Requires Improvement grade by Ofsted, the Gazette reported. The college is now rated Good after its latest inspection in 2015.
