Consilium Academies has been honoured with the Innovative Trust of the Year Award at the prestigious Multi-Academy Trust Association Awards 2025, celebrating its commitment to enhancing technology across its schools for the benefit of students and staff.
Congratulations!
The multi-academy trust, which oversees eight academies across the North West, North East, and Yorkshire, was recognised for its forward-thinking approach to digital transformation, led by its Information Technology Services department.
Revolutionising technology for learning and efficiency
Under the leadership of Joel Thornton, Director of IT Services, Consilium Academies has undertaken a large-scale digital overhaul designed to improve infrastructure, streamline operations, and introduce cutting-edge technology across its schools.
Key initiatives include:
- Classroom upgrades – 900 desktops replaced and new interactive classroom screens installed to create a more engaging learning environment.
- Chromebook rollouts – Providing students with better digital access to learning resources.
- Cyber security enhancements – Strengthening online protections across the trust.
- Operational savings – Standardising mobile contracts, saving around £30,000.
- Streamlined communication – Introducing a new SharePoint intranet system to centralise resources, improve accessibility, and reduce staff workload.
These advancements have significantly improved both student engagement and staff efficiency, making a tangible difference in the day-to-day running of Consilium’s schools.
