Pupils at Dame Allan’s Schools are celebrating an impressive set of A Level results this year, with a notably high proportion of A* grades achieved. Congratulations to all staff and students!

One in five (20.4 per cent) of all exams taken by Year 13 pupils at the Newcastle-based independent school resulted in the top A* grade, marking the school’s strongest ever performance in non-pandemic years.

Alongside their A Level subjects, more than a fifth of pupils also took the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which is equivalent to half an A Level, with nearly 40 per cent of pupils achieving an A* grade and 83 per cent achieving grade A*- B.

Of all exams sat, 70 per cent were awarded A* to B grades. Pupils, many of whom balance rigorous academic commitments with a wide range of co-curricular activities and sports, achieved a pass rate of 99.7 per cent.

Will Scott, Principal at Dame Allan’s Schools, said: “This year’s results, particularly the significant number of A* grades in a broad range of subjects, reflect the hard work and passions of our pupils, who have once again demonstrated that Dame Allan’s is a school where they can truly excel in all areas.

“With a strong group heading to Oxbridge, a dedicated cohort of future medics, dentists and vets, several pupils gaining places at prestigious conservatories and remarkable performances in subjects like Maths and Further Maths, it is great to celebrate such a breadth of talent in this fantastic year group.”

Dame Allan’s School is one of the North East’s oldest independent schools and operates a diamond structure of education that is unique to the region. It co-educates pupils in the Junior School and Sixth Form, while teaching boys and girls separately between the ages of 11 and 16.

The Schools North East team want to say a huge congratulations to all students and staff at Dame Allan’s Schools! We look forward to seeing where life takes the students next.
