Hetton Academy celebrates a strong year of GCSE results

Students at Northern Education Trust Hetton Academy, one of 17 secondary academies sponsored by the trust, have achieved a strong year on year improvement across the board with their GCSE results.
The Academy has also shown a strong improvement in the number of passes in English and Maths. An amazing 80.3% students overall achieved a pass in English and Maths, demonstrating an improvement on last year’s results.
There were some outstanding individual successes:
Leyla Kirkham, 7 grade 9s in English Language, English Literature, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Health and Social Care
Ollie Waters, 7 grade 9s in English Language, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography and Sport and Fitness
Richard Ezebor, 4 grade 9s in English Language, English Literature, Geography and Sport and Fitness. 4 grade 8s in Maths, French, Biology and Chemistry.
Vicky Pinkney Principal of Hetton Academy thanked the students and staff for their efforts and commitment, saying: “These results are the culmination of years of hard work for our students, and I’m absolutely delighted with their achievements. I’d like to express my thanks to the staff for their continued efforts – the results are testament to their continuous support, energy and enthusiasm. My thanks also go to the parents, carers for their continued support – our students and staff couldn’t succeed without your help.”

Andrew Murphy, Senior Executive Principal of Hetton Academy added his praise, saying “Students and staff are to be congratulated for these results, and should be very proud of what they’ve accomplished. They have all worked incredibly hard to achieve at these levels, and the results reflect the dedication and commitment they have shown.”
Jane Wilson, Chief Executive of Northern Education Trust, said “These results reflect the hard work and commitment of the staff and students within the academy. The year on year improvement demonstrates the ongoing quality of education provided by the academy, and the exceptional desire of the students to succeed. We aim to enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care, and these results are the culmination of their incredible efforts and dedication, allowing them to progress to the next stage of their lives with confidence in their abilities to succeed. We are extremely proud of our students and wish them every success with their futures”.
