Schools and academies are facing many challenges, particularly around finance. Rising costs and falling rolls mean an increasingly difficult environment. This interactive session will cover some of the basic principles around budgeting, tips around monitoring the budget and forecasting the year end outturn, effective scrutiny and challenge from governors and trustees, ideas to generate revenue and manage costs, and the opportunity to share stories and ideas with colleagues from around the region.

Graham heads up the academy audit team at Azets in Teesside. He has over 30 years’ experience in audit and other advisory roles, and has been an audit partner since 2002. He currently works directly with over 30 academy trusts across the North East, and offers support and advice to colleagues and trusts nationally. He is a trustee and chair of finance and and audit at a growing MAT, and holds the ICAEW’s specialist charity qualification.

Do I need to install Zoom?

You can join the call without downloading Zoom by clicking ‘join from browser’ when you launch the call on the day of the event.

If you are using the Zoom app from your laptop or PC, please ensure that you have the latest version installed prior to the event. Download & install here!

Can I ask the presenter questions?

You can submit questions for the speaker when you register, using the Zoom registration form. The Zoom chat function will also be available during the call and questions can be submitted here. You will also have the chance to unmute and speak directly with the speaker during any allocated Q&A sessions.
