Vision for Education

Vision for Education was established in 2008 to deliver a local, professional and honest service to schools in the North East. Our ethos is based on building lasting relationships with schools and teachers as well as offering exceptional service. We have separate Primary, Secondary and SEN divisions and all of our consultants are local with experience in their respective areas.   We provide best value to schools and have grown substantially through the recommendations of Head Teachers, Business Managers and teachers who believe in our ethos, and respect our approach.

We strongly believe in offering our teachers the best pay in the area, and offer schools the best rates for the quality received. We place a huge emphasis on our vetting and child protection procedures. In fact, our system has been approved by the DfE and we have been awarded 100% in our Quality Mark audit.   We hope our combination of quality, safety and value will be of interest you, and we look forward to speaking to you in the near future.

How to guarantee continuity from a supply agency

Vision for Educations guaranteed pay scheme, from the eyes of a supply teacher.

The guaranteed pay scheme has given me the financial peace of mind of a permanent position whilst having all the benefits of working on supply. Vision for Education guarantee that they will find me teaching work, and if they do not, they pay me for that day anyway. As such, I have signed up exclusively with them.

The schools I have worked in have been friendly, supportive environments for children and staff, including temporary staff, and I must say I am loving it. The staff within the company understand the requirements of each individual school and pair these up with the individual needs of their supply staff. I get a call each day from Darren advising as to which of my regular schools I am in, and what I will be covering.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Vision for Education to anyone thinking of making a career out of teaching, especially when the guaranteed pay scheme gives you the best of both worlds.

The Value of CPD for Temporary Supply Staff

Since being employed through Vision for Education I have been attended two CPD courses, provided free of charge by them. The first CDP course was a team teach course focussing on positive handling strategies, behaviour management skills and positive approaches when being presented with difficult classroom based issues. As I originally wanted to teach in mainstream I was originally weary of the level of importance this course could play in relation to my own teaching methods.

However, it gave me excellent and insightful ideas as to how I can avoid confrontation, use positive words and actions to help diffuse negative situations, and how I can gain an even greater positive control of a learning environment.

It was not until I attended a behavioural unit that I recognised the even greater importance of the team teach training, and how it could be used in the classroom. Indeed, it made me realise how such a course was necessary for all those practitioners in such provisions. I have been able to diffuse heated situations between pupils and staff, handle aggressive pupils and appropriately speak to pupils when they are anxious or confrontational. The training has allowed me to understand how the pupils may feel and think, and has therefore helped tailor which approach is best when dealing with them.

These courses are invaluable, ran by experts in their fields, and are a huge benefit for temporary and long term supply workers such as myself.

Thornhill School win Vision for Education Sunderland 5 aside Tournament

On a wet and dreary Wednesday 21st November, Gareth Gaston from Vision for Education, a North East supply agency, hosted the first annual Vision for Education Sunderland Secondary 5 a side tournament at Goals Sunderland.  The competition saw entries from Southmoor, Kepier, Red House, Washington, Academy 360, Farringdon, Thornhill and Oxclose School.

The format of the tournament was two groups, with the top two going through to compete in a Semi Final and Final and the bottom two competing in the Bowl. Group One saw Southmoor, Kepier, Red House and Washington meet. Southmoor progressed, finishing top of the group on goal difference with Red House also going through to the Semi Final. Group Two was a hotly contested group with two points separating all four teams (Academy 360, Farringdon, Thornhill & Oxclose). At half time in the final game in the group, Thornhill were facing elimination as they were 5-1 down. Mr ‘Jose’ Heelbeck made 3 changes which saw the school make an inspiring comeback to draw 5-5 and go through on goal difference, with Farringdon narrowly missing out. The Thornhill pupils were later heard singing ‘Who needs Mourinho, we’ve got Heelbeckho!’

The Semi Finals of the tournament were very close affairs. In the first game, Thornhill came through 3-2 winners against Southmoor in a pulsating end to end game. The second Semi Final was even closer; a late Oxclose equaliser against Red House saw the game end 2-2 with the game going straight to penalties. In sudden death, Red House went through as the winners to meet Thornhill in the Final; the Red House goalkeeper was in inspiring form. Kepier and Farringdon progressed through to the final of the Bowl and Kepier came through winners in an exciting game with the score 5-3 to the Houghton-Le-Spring team.

Thornhill proved to be too strong for Red House in the Final. With Red House unable to mount much of an attack in the first half, Thornhill went 2-0 up. In the second half, Red House got a foothold on the game and played good football to pull back a goal with four minutes remaining. Whilst Red House poured men forward for an all important equaliser, Thornhill managed to score two goals on the counter attack and won the Final 4-1.

Gareth Gaston from Vision for Education said ‘It was a very successful day with some excellent football on display. All teams played fairly and were a credit to their schools. I would like to thank Total Sports in Sunderland for continuing to supply us with top quality strips for our schools and Goals Sunderland for their hospitality. Congratulations must go to Thornhill School on winning the competition and I look forward to next year to see if they can defend their title.’
