We used images and quotes from some of the most popular theatre shows to transform the space.

School theatre Wall Art

We certainly followed every rainbow when designing Wall Art for the school theatre at Ash Manor! In fact, it was a dream come true.

At Promote Your School, we believe that self expression in children is critical for wellbeing. It also supports education of the whole child. Case Study North East local landmarks

Here are some recent Wall Art projects featuring local landmarks in the North East.

The thing we love most about working with schools in the North East is how proud they are of their local landmarks!

In fact, we’ve completed a number of recent projects featuring popular landmarks and places of interest in Tyne & Wear.

Here’s a round up of our favourite local landmark projects for schools in the North East.

Fulwell Junior School in Sunderland

In the Summer, we worked with Fulwell Junior School to create Wall Art that shows off local landmarks across Wearside.

The school wanted a rich visual display of Sunderland’s famous features to act as a backdrop for the Roger Hiorns sculptures, which are on display in their yard. These are on long term loan via the British Arts Council.” – Helen Wilson, North East Consultant at Promote Your School.

We happily obliged, designing a bespoke outdoor Wall Art project to bring these landmarks to life.

Putting Sunderland on the map

Following the Wall Art installation, we were delighted to be invited back to the school to share their celebration when receiving a Platinum Artsmark Award!

Sunderland’s mayor presented the award at an art-filled ceremony. Pupils sang, danced and read poetry, to reinforce why they are entirely deserving of their Artsmark Award. And we were thrilled to be a part of the day and join their celebrations.

Mill Hill Primary School in Sunderland

We created this colourful design for Mill Hill Primary School. It’s a visual showcase of local landmarks, against a vibrant backdrop.

We also included a local area map, which shows the Wear River snaking its way around the city, from Sunderland Docks. This is an engaging way to showcase Sunderland’s rich mining and shipbuilding heritage, explore the local area and inspire curiosity in pupils, teachers and visitors to the school.

Local pride

This installation sits proudly in the school’s entrance lobby, so it sets the scene from the minute one walks through the doors. It’s a great way to make a good first impression of the school.

Pupils will feel a sense of pride at living in a city boasting such a rich history, with many well known landmarks.

It was a joy to work with the school and bring their vision to life through our bespoke design process.

Heddon On The Wall St Andrew’s Church of England Primary School

We designed a local area map at Heddon on the Wall St Andrews C of E Primary School.

Created in a traditional guide map style, the design features roads, rivers and local landmarks across North East England. To the right, there’s a large world map, with national landmarks above.

The power of this NE England map lies in its size. Pupils can stand alongside the map and discover places and features they might miss in the pages of a textbook.

This is Geography without borders! And it serves as a natural learning tool to help students absorb and remember information about the local area, and wider world.

Westerhope Primary School in Newcastle

Phase one installation

We designed Wall Art for Westerhope Primary School, featuring local landmarks in and around Newcastle.

Pupils can marvel at The Tyne Bridge, Newcastle Castle and the Angel of the North, set against a colourful background.

We added creative flair to the designs with bursts of colour, fun illustrations and the school’s motto. We’re confident this design will inspire pupils to ‘reach for the stars through learning’.

Wherever pupils go beyond school, we hope these images will stay entrenched in their minds. A beautiful reminder of the city that made them who they are.

Phase two installation

The second phase of Westerhope Primary School’s Wall Art project featured a map of the River Tyne, with pins for each of its seven bridges.

Above the map, we designed an image bubble for each bridge, alongside its name and the date it was built.

Monkseaton Middle School

St Mary’s Lighthouse provides the perfect backdrop to a Values wall we designed for Monkseaton Middle School in Whitley Bay.

Local landmarks are the star of the show as pupils, teachers and visitors enter the school lobby.

A total transformation

This wall is part of a series of Wall Art designs we installed around the school, and local landmarks feature in many of the designs.

We also designed a timeline to present facts about key events and milestones from throughout history. Tyne and Wear’s local history is woven into facts about the wider world.

Within the timeline, we included images of prolific people from the North East to show how local beginnings have led to worldwide success.

Wall Art for Schools in the North East

Helen (pictured below) is our regional consultant in the North East – and a proud Sunderland local.

She travels around Tyne and Wear, helping schools achieve their improvement goals through stunning Wall Art by Promote Your School.

Helen has significant experience and a passion for education. So she can confidently advise schools on the best ways to transform their learning environments.

She’s delivered many projects, across an array of topics and goals. But, Helen is particularly fond of projects that celebrate her native county;

“It’s wonderful to see so many schools bringing local North East landmarks to their walls. I would have loved to see these on the walls when I was at school!

It’s my job to make the process as seamless as possible for my clients.  I’ll begin by visiting the school to chat through their goals and measure up their available space. From there, I’ll guide them through the design brief to make sure they’re 100% happy before they approve the artwork. I’ll then liaise with our print and installation teams, and stay in touch with the school throughout to keep them up to date.

I love to visit schools to see their Wall Art after installation. It’s very rewarding to hear directly from teachers and pupils, and see first-hand, the impact of our bespoke Wall Art”. – Helen Wilson, North East Consultant

Colmers Farm Primary Environmental Awareness

We’re raising environmental awareness through Wall Art!

We created this environmental awareness design for Colmers Farm Primary School.

The goal is to educate pupils about the world around them and why it’s important to protect it. Then, we hope they’ll want to take action and make necessary changes to reduce their negative impact on the environment.

Environmental awareness

As we continue to see the impact of Climate Change on our beautiful planet, we need to take action. In fact, every small change we each make in our lives, can make a big collective difference.

So if pupils understand why it’s important to protect our planet, and how to make changes, we’re more likely to see an impact.

We loved creating this inspiring Wall Art design for the school and it was a pleasure to work with the team at Colmers Farm Primary School.

Bespoke design

We design all Wall Art for schools in-house, completely bespoke to each school’s requirements. This means we can tailor the designs to the school’s unique preferences, branding, colours and tone of voice.

For this design, we applied the school’s blue and white colour palette to our designs. This means, the Wall Art has a unified look and feel and is aligned to other printed materials from around the school.

Our designs traverse the school’s corridors and stairwells, so we’ve maximised all available space!

Our world

When we design Wall Art, we always start by discussing the school’s objectives. Our designs can help a school achieve their ambitions for learning, wellbeing, motivation, action or something else.

We know that a child’s education is a wonderful gift and can provide the tools and skills they’ll need in life beyond their school years. So, we’re always delighted when schools approach us to design Wall Art for their learning environment. And we ensure that our designs are engaging and inspiring to all who see them.

Fullbrook School Diversity and Inclusion Timeline Wall Art

We designed a Diversity Timeline for Fullbrook School.

This Diversity Timeline will help pupils celebrate our beautifully diverse world! It was a pleasure to bring the school’s vision to life through our bespoke design process.

Read on to find out more about the project or watch the video!

A colourful Diversity Timeline

We were delighted to bring diversity to the walls of Fullbrook School. Of course, we use diverse images within all our bespoke Wall Art designs. But it was particularly special to create a project based entirely on diverse themes, heroes and milestones throughout the years.

The timeline design tracks developments in inclusion through the years. And it showcases many famous faces in the field of diversity. For example, those who have fought against oppression or made a stand for what they believe in.

Inspiring pupils

The objective of this timeline design is to inspire pupils to consider what diversity means to them. And, by putting faces to names and bringing the topic to life visually, pupils can empathise and understand the struggle for acceptance that many still face today.

We used a mix of beautiful images, with supporting information, to bring the designs to life. And the timeline traverses the length and breadth of the school’s corridors. So pupils can get up close and personal with the Wall Art and full

Madeley School Library Wall Art

We designed library Wall Art for Madeley School.

Madeley School is committed to inspiring excellence – it’s even their motto! So, with this in mind, they approached us to design beautiful library Wall Art for the school.

And, with news that Ofsted is focusing on reading as a key area for inspections, it was a timely decision!

Designing for Madeley School

We were delighted when the team at Madeley School approached us. They were keen to inspire a natural love of reading by creating a welcoming library space for pupils.

Children who read for pleasure are happier, healthier and have better outcomes at school. Yet, did you know that 1 in 8 Primary Schools in the UK doesn’t have a library? Covid-19 has had a detrimental effect on many children’s literacy and reading progress. So, it’s little wonder that Ofsted are focusing on reading as one of the most important aspects of their inspections.

Library Wall Art

We’ve had feedback from a number of our clients that Ofsted inspectors LOVE literacy themed Wall Art. This is wonderful news as we see more and more education leaders investing in literacy themes for their schools.

Our designs are bespoke, so we can create anything on your school’s walls. Some schools like to feature images of books, quotes from authors and memorable facts about popular children’s books. Whilst other schools opt for literacy timelines or information about the importance of reading.

Your school’s walls

Whatever your goals, we can create bespoke Wall Art to help you achieve them. We’ll guide you through the design process to bring your vision to life. And our service includes print and installation too.

It all starts with a free site visit from your local North East based Wall Art representative.

This is a free, no obligation consultation where we’ll discuss your objectives and budget. During this session, we’ll also measure up the areas to provide you with an accurate quote.
