Helen Hogan leads Helen Hogan Safeguarding Matters, supporting Designated Safeguarding Leads and adults working with children. A qualified teacher and registered Social Worker with 23 years’ experience, Helen holds a BA (Hons) with QTS and a Master’s degree in in social Work and from Durham University. She began teaching in 2002 and retrained as a social worker in 2006, later joining Sunderland’s Education Safeguarding Team and co‑leading Safeguarding First. Her company provides expert consultancy, training and resources to help schools meet safeguarding obligations. Services include whole‑workforce safeguarding training, quality‑assurance audits with RAG‑rated action plans, supervision for staff, and programmes for new and experienced DSLs. Helen tailors every package to the client and emphasises clear policies, reflective training and resources that help staff identify and address concerns.
