Paul Green
Paul Green is the Head of the North East RISE team at the Department for Education. Having started his career as a maths teacher in the North East and in Eritrea, Paul went on to join the DfE where he was Head of Opportunity North East, a three-year programme aimed at improving secondary educational outcomes in the region. Prior to becoming a civil servant, he was the North East Director for the teacher training charity Teach First. He is a trustee at the SHINE trust, an education charity that works with teachers, helping disadvantaged children in the North of England to fulfil their true potential. He is also chair of governors at a maintained nursery school in Gateshead and previously ran a charity, One World Network North East, which created partnerships between schools in the UK and overseas.
