James Waller
James Waller is Headteacher of Sunningdale School, Sunningdale Early Years Centre and SENhub, a serially Outstanding specialist school and training, outreach and workforcedevelopment organisation in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.
Since 2002, he has specialised in education for children and young people with severe, profound
and complex learning disabilities, supporting the development of childfirst pedagogical approaches used nationally and internationally.
James contributes to national SEND policy through advisory work, ministerially convened cross sector group membership, and formal expert and funding groups. He is also the Chairperson of Equals, a trustee of the Federation of Leaders of Special Education, a member of the DfE Expert Advisory Group (EAG) on Early Years SEND and the Parliamentary CoChair of the Council for Disabled Children’s Special Education Consortium.
