Healthy MindED Conference 2024
The Fed, Gateshead
THIS IS A PAST EVENT
On Tuesday 21 May 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting our eighth Healthy MindED Conference, and we can say that 2024 really has been the best year so far!
Not only did we hear from some truly remarkable experts and leaders, but it was also an incredibly timely conference; the topic of children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing is one that’s been dominating the sector recently.
In February, it was reported that the number of children referred to emergency mental healthcare in England has soared by more than 50 percent in three years, according to data that highlights the impact of lengthy waiting lists for regular NHS treatment.
Healthy MindED Conference 2024 could not have come at a better time, and we’re so pleased with the efforts made by attendees, sponsors, and of course, speakers. It was a beautiful day that equipped delegates with fresh insight and clever tools to help them BUILD A CULTURE OF RESILIENCE IN SCHOOLS!

Loti Nambombe
Charity Lead, School Speaker & Mental Health Advocate, Make Life Kind
Loti's journey began when he left Angola at just 8 months old, immigrating to Belgium under circumstances that would later label him an 'illegal immigrant'. At the age of 10, seeking better opportunities, his family relocated to England. After spending 2 years in London, they settled in Manchester, where Loti spent the next 23 years of his life. Currently residing in Liverpool, Loti's professional life is predominantly centred in this city.
The uncertainties surrounding Brexit posed significant challenges for Loti and his family, as Belgian citizens not residing in Belgium. In his 30s, while already a father of two young children, Loti faced the looming threat of deportation. This struggle took a toll on his mental well-being, contributing to a decline in his mental health.
At one point, Loti's job, within one of the world's largest brands, was jeopardised due to complications with his 'Right To Work' status. Resilience proved to be key in Loti's successful comeback following these trials. He began openly sharing his struggles on social media, eventually transitioning into a speaker role, advocating for Diversity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism, Online Safety and Mental Health. Since then, Loti has emerged as a champion for those in need, using his platform to amplify their voices and advocate for their rights.
