Students at Rye Hills celebrate GCSE success

Today students at Rye Hills Academy celebrated receiving their eagerly anticipated GCSE

results with some brilliant performances which demonstrate the school’s rapid, ongoing

improvements.

Hard work and determination paid off across the year group with many students achieving

fantastic grades including:

• Lucy Kelly who achieved grade 8s in every subject and 8 grade 9s.

• Eleanor Whitwell and Daisy Jackson who achieved six grade 9s.

• Eveie Boffey who achieved a grade 8 in every subject and four grade 9s.

There were also significant improvements in the number of students obtaining strong passes  in English and maths.

Headteacher, Hijab Zaheer, said:

“I am immensely proud of what our students have achieved today – their hard work has paid  off and they have seen what can happen when you put your mind to something. Despite the  pandemic disrupting their education, they persevered and have now proven to themselves

and each other that they could do it. Rye Hills is on a rapid journey of improvement with big changes happening across every  aspect of our school – I am hugely ambitious for the children of Redcar and am working as  hard as I can with a fantastic team of dedicated staff behind me to ensure that we become  one of the very best schools in the whole region – these results are another step in the right  direction.”

Chair of Governors, Maggie Saxton, added:

“The results this year show that Rye Hills Academy provides a strong academic and

personal foundation which will pave the way for the rest of their lives. Good luck to our

GCSE students in your next chapters.”

Chief Executive Officer of the school’s sponsor, the North East Learning Trust, Lesley

Powell CBE, added:

“Since joining North East Learning Trust in 2021, we have seen Rye Hills go from strength to  strength. These results reflect the positive changes that have been put in place to improve

the outcomes for our young people and allow them to reach their full potential.”
