St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School celebrates outstanding A-Level results

St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School is celebrating another year of excellent A-Level results, reflecting the hard work, resilience, and dedication of its young men, together with the unwavering commitment of the staff who have supported and guided them throughout their educational journey.

This year, a remarkable 30% of all A-Level grades were awarded at A or A*, while more than half of all grades achieved were between A* and B. The average A-Level grade was a strong B, demonstrating the consistently high academic performance of the school’s Sixth Form students.

Individual performances shone brightly among the cohort. Ten students secured at least three grades at A or A*, while 14 students achieved AAB or better, including at least two facilitating subjects, keeping doors open to the most prestigious university courses in the country.

Success extended well beyond traditional A-Levels, with students achieving excellent outcomes across vocational qualifications. Over half (53.5%) of vocational grades were awarded at Distinction or above, highlighting the impressive breadth of talent and achievement across the year group.

These stellar results have enabled students to progress to an impressive array of destinations. This year’s leavers are preparing to head to some of the country’s most elite institutions, including the University of Cambridge, Durham University, and the Royal College of Music, alongside securing highly competitive higher-level apprenticeships and other exciting pathways.

Headmaster Dan Murray expressed his immense pride in the cohort: “Today’s results are a wonderful achievement for our students and a fitting reward for their hard work and commitment. We are proud not only of their academic success, but of the great young men they have become through their time at St Cuthbert’s.”

At St Cuthbert’s, education is about far more than examination results. The school’s mission is to form “great men”: young men of competence, conscience, compassion, and commitment who recognise their God-given gifts, strive for excellence, and use their talents in the service of others.

A defining feature of the Sixth Form experience is the strong sense of brotherhood and belonging that underpins school life. Through academic study, enrichment opportunities, and dedicated pastoral support, students are encouraged to flourish as individuals while contributing positively to the wider community.

Head of Sixth Form Matt Turner added: “These results reflect the ambition and perseverance of our students, as well as the strong sense of brotherhood and belonging within the Sixth Form. We are delighted to see them progressing to such exciting opportunities beyond St Cuthbert’s.”

As they move beyond St Cuthbert’s, students do so not only with outstanding qualifications but with the confidence, character, and values that will help them thrive in the next stage of their lives. Whether progressing to leading universities, apprenticeships, or employment, they leave as part of a lifelong community and with a determination to make a positive contribution to society.

The school warmly congratulates all students, their families, and its dedicated staff on these excellent achievements and wishes the Class of 2026 every success for the future.
