Outstanding report for Corbridge Middle School

Corbridge Middle School has been rated ‘outstanding’ in all areas following a recent Ofsted inspection.

The quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management within the school have all been recognised as being outstanding – making it an OUTSTANDING school overall.

Some of the key findings from Ofsted focused on how inclusive the school is saying that it ‘is a school that puts inclusivity at its very heart. It is a caring community where every member of staff shares a determination that all pupils will benefit from exceptional opportunities.’

Jane Kennedy, Head Teacher, said: “I am really pleased that our school has been recognised in this way. We are a school that is clear about what we are trying to achieve, and we work hard to make sure that every child feels safe, happy and is able to access our fantastic curriculum.
“All the staff work extremely hard in every aspect of school life; the teaching, support and associate staff have all contributed to these Ofsted judgements and there is a phenomenal team spirit here.

“I couldn’t be more proud of how our staff, children and their families have dealt with everything we have had to face. The hard work and determination to make this a great school has been recognised. Our parents are very supportive and work with us to ensure that we are doing our best for every child. Our children have continued to thrive and learn through the most unique of times and they are what makes the school such a special place to be. I am absolutely delighted for our entire school community.”

Praising the school for its achievement, Emma Ing, Ofsted Director for the North East, Yorkshire and Humber said: “I am delighted to be able to personally present Corbridge Middle School with their outstanding report today. Staff, pupils and parents have worked hard to overcome the challenges that schools across the country have faced as a result of the pandemic.

“Teachers work tirelessly to make sure children at the school are provided with a well-planned curriculum, tailored to meet their individual needs and enhanced by an impressive range of enrichment activities on offer.”

It is also a school that invests in its staff in order to continually improve the school, its educational offer and its support for student’s health and wellbeing.

The Ofsted inspection follows a period that has been disruptive for education seeing children and young people learning from home, virtually, returning to face-to-face but in a different way and then back to normal.

Cath McEvoy-Carr, Executive Director for Children’s Services, said: “This is great news, even more so considering the past 18-months we have had.

“The school’s leaders and governors know exactly where they want to be and where they want to go and that has been recognised by Ofsted.
“I can’t congratulate the school enough. It is well deserved.”
