Thank you to North East Schools for donating and making PPE
On 2nd April the Government issued a plea to everyone to help our National Health Service by donating Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) due to there being a major shortage during the fight against Covid-19. In the North-East, schools have stepped up once again calling on all faculties to make or provide any PPE which may be useful. Schools North East would like to thank all the schools who have gone the extra mile to donate to their local hospitals, care homes, prisons as well as many more institutions who require PPE seeing these stories make us proud of our schools.
Park View School donated 100 sets of goggles and 2000 pairs of rubber gloves to Lumley Bridge End, Pelton Fell Surgeries and Kelly Park Home as well as beginning production on visors.
Hurworth Academy which is a part of Carmel Education Trust have provided North Tees Hospital with 165 sets of goggles and 2500 pairs of gloves.
Belmont School have donated all their science and technology department’s goggles to County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation.
UTC South Durham staged a fundraiser to allow their school to continue to provide visors to frontline workers. They have produced over 1500 visors to 65 organisations.
Durham School made the most of their new laser cutter by making 44 visors for Sunderland and Durham hospitals.
High Tunstall College of Science have given all their safety goggles to Hartlepool BC and plastics to St Hilds C of E school to make full face masks.
Consett Academy have enlisted the help of their technician to make visors for hospitals in the Newcastle and Gateshead NHS Trust.
Durham Johnston have provided 447 pairs of goggles to Chastleton Surgery in Framwellgate Moor.
Easington Hall and Shotton Academy are working together to provide visors for NHS staff.
Framwellgate School have been making visors for nursing homes, doctors, prison, hospitals and shops.
Meadowdale Academy started their ‘visorsforvictory’ initiative where they have provided design plans for making visors for A3 and A4. Staff and students have been making these at home where they have laminators.
Cedars Academy are calling on staff and students to make headbands for NHS workers to prevent sores.
Seaham High School are making visors for those who get in contact with the school requesting PPE.
Hermitage Academy technology department shared a vlog of their production line which was making visors.
