North East figures awarded Honours for services to Education

Schools North East Board Member Joanne Heaton has been awarded an OBE for services to Education. Jo became Chief Executive Officer of Northern Lights Learning Trust, Hartlepool last year and she is a valued board member of Schools North East.

She said: “I feel very lucky and privileged to have been given the opportunity to make a difference to education for our fantastic young people in the region and beyond, and am proud to accept this OBE as part of Northern Lights Learning Trust and as part of the education profession in our country.”

Other North East recipients for services to Education include:

Robert William Lawson, Chair of Governors, Education Partnership North East. For services to Education in Sunderland (Sunderland, Tyne and Wear). Awarded OBE.

Irene Lucas-Hays CBE. For services to Training, to Education and to Young People. (Whitburn) Awarded CBE.

In October last year Jillian Margaret Shaw, Head Teacher, New York Primary School, Tyne and Wear was also awarded an MBE for services to Education.
