NOMINATIONS OPEN: The North East Community Champion Awards
The Community Champion Awards are returning for another year. These awards shine a well-deserved spotlight on the incredible young people making a difference in Newcastle schools and communities.
How can I nominate someone?
Whether it’s a student who supports classmates, a young carer helping at home, or someone making a difference through volunteering or fundraising, we want to hear their story.
The North East Community Champion Awards 2025 are open for nominations – there are eight categories, each aimed at looking at different ways in which young people are helping their schools and communities. Winners will each receive a £200 gift token plus a £50 book token.
You can nominate a young person through the Northern Leaders Trust website, link is below. But hurry, entries close on 15 January 2025.

What are the awards?
Bigger, brighter, and more inspiring than ever, this initiative is a fantastic way to recognise and celebrate the kindness, courage, and creativity of our region’s young people.
Originally launched by Northern Leaders Trust and proudly hosted at Kenton School for the past two years, the awards have grown in popularity and impact. This year, the awards see Association of Education Advisers (AoEA) as joint main sponsors, helping to strengthen the reach and influence of the awards..
With support from a wide range of local businesses and organisations, individual award categories celebrate qualities such as community spirit, environmental leadership, and personal courage.
