New Year’s Honours 2017

Congratulations to everyone in the North East who was recognised in the 2017 New Year’s Honours for services to Education! In total, 1,197 people have received an award and below are the region’s extraordinary people whose achievements for the sector were recognised by the honours committee.

Professor Mary Elizabeth DUNNING Lately Governor, Tyne Metropolitan College. For services to Further and Higher Education and the Community in the North-East of England. (Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear) – OBE

Jacqueline, Mrs GENT Head Teacher, Bishop Barrington School. For services to Education and the community in Co. Durham. (Crook, Durham) – OBE

Philomena Margaret, Mrs MARSHALL Education Director and Trustee, Laidlaw Schools Philomena Abrahams Trust and lately Executive Principal, Excelsior Academy, Newcastle upon Tyne. For services to Education. (Durham) – CBE
