New Year Honours list 2016: people working in education and children’s services in the North East

The 2016 New Year Honours list of people working in education and children’s services was published on 30 December.

Congratulations to everyone in the North East who was recognised for their hard work and dedication to education in our region and beyond.

They are:

Dr Helen Jones OBE: Head Teacher, Beacon Hill School and Business and Enterprise College, Tyne and Wear. For services to children with special educational needs and disabilities.

Ms Bernadette Knill OBE: Former Head Teacher, Priory Woods Special School, Middlesbrough. For services to children with special educational needs.

Mrs Janice Pallas MBE: Chair, NSPCC Fundraising Committee, Newcastle upon Tyne. For services to children and families.

Mr Stephen Humble MBE: Teaching fellow in PGCE maths, Newcastle University; freelance maths consultant. For services to education.
