New school recruitment portal to launch in the New Year

A new jobs board created by North East schools for North East schools will be launched in January 2016.

The project is endorsed by SCHOOLS NorthEast’s Head Teacher Board and SBM Council and will deliver fresh talent attraction opportunities for schools that will:

  • Act as a one-stop-shop for all recruitment opportunities within schools – teaching and support staff;
  • Allow schools to showcase themselves as employers, to profile their establishments and to promote incentives to potential candidates such as additional CPD;
  • Deliver quality candidates from the widest regional talent pool;
  • Save money for schools by offering cost effective solutions, reducing the need for national advertising;
  • Host news articles, blogs, initiatives, details of careers events and resources.

Schools regionally and nationally are facing extremely tough financial times as budgets are cut and ever greater demands are made of diminishing resources. In the North East, our school leaders report an ever more difficult drive to reduce unnecessary expenditure and focus it on where it really matters: on our students and young people.

A recent survey on recruitment conducted by SCHOOLS NorthEast shows that a staggering 94% of respondents experienced difficulties with recruiting staff in the past year, the quality of applicants, shortage of teachers and subject experts being the top three reasons cited. When asked about what the future will bring, 75% said they expect recruitment in schools to become more difficult and 25% think it will remain the same. Not one of our respondents believes the situation will improve. If you haven’t done so yet, please fill in our teacher recruitment survey here and help paint the most accurate regional picture.

North East schools must work together to ensure that our region can attract and retain the best staff for our schools, the staff that our young people need and deserve.

Support from your school is essential to ensure this initiative is a success and the financial drain on recruitment by schools in our region.  Full details and registration form will be sent to you soon.

By actively supporting this initiative, your school will benefit from reaching a wider audience of candidates applying for jobs within commuting distance, and, you will be collectively contributing to retaining teaching talent within the region.

The website is now open for candidates to register their interest and will be fully launched in January 2016. Please share http://www.jobsinschoolsnortheast.com/ with anyone who is looking for a job in teaching.
