Hurworth pupils overcome “tough journey” to achieve improved results

Among the Hurworth students celebrating their results was Esme Kelley, who achieved Grade 9s in English Language, Maths, Biology, Physics, Art and RS and Grade 8s across all other subjects.

Esme plans to accept her offer of a place to study a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design at the Northern School of Art.  She said:

“I’m happy to have crossed this bridge in my life, despite my nerves and to have reached the other side.”

Vincent plans to accept his offer of a place to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, in Darlington. Vincent said:

“I’m over the moon with my results – it means all the effort has been worth it.”

Extremely proud

Dean Judson, chief executive of Swift Academies Trust, said:

“This has been a particularly tough GCSE journey for the students, who have worked hard to gain the success they deserve. There have been many emotions shared throughout this time, from frustration to elation, and I hope that all students recognise their efforts in the results they receive. Once again, I would like to thank the staff, parents and carers, and the governors for their encouragement and support over the year.”

Mr Judson added that he was “extremely proud” that students of all abilities had performed well across all subjects.
