George Stephenson High celebrates best-ever GCSE results for second year running

George Stephenson High School is ‘absolutely delighted’ with this year’s GCSE results, which reflect the hard work of students and the dedication of staff.

“The students have achieved fantastic outcomes across the board with our highest number of top grades than ever before and our strongest ever results for disadvantaged students. For the second year in a row we have achieved our best ever results in both GCSE and A levels which is a truly outstanding achievement for our whole community. It was a delight to see so many happy faces and our highest ever number signing up to stay onto our sixth form.

“Headteacher Peter Douthwaite said: ‘I am incredibly proud of our students today – these are our best ever set of results and reflect the hard work, dedication, support and resilience of our students, teachers and parents. We had a large number of students achieving the highest grades but also many students who worked incredibly hard to get grades 4’s and 5’s, they may not make the headlines, but have got to the next stage of their education and are delightful people who I am sure will also be very successful. We wish everyone the very best of luck for the future and hope they take some time to celebrate their achievements.'”
