Bede Academy celebrates high achievement across a diverse and determined GCSE cohort

Students at Bede Academy, in Blyth, are celebrating strong results in their GCSE exams, with many students securing high grades across a range of pathways and subjects. In particular, the academy celebrates as students overcome adversity to achieve highly against the odds.
Bucking national trends, the three top performing students at Bede Academy were all boys. Ryan Maddison-Richardson achieved four grade 9s, including Further Maths, three grade 8s, two grade 7s, one grade 6 and two distinction* for performing arts. Winner of Star of Oswald House award in the leavers’ assembly, Antony Hozein also achieved an outstanding set of results including two grade 9s, one grade 8, two grade 7s, two grade 6s and two distinctions. Staff consistently comment on his politeness, respect and empathy. David Okorie, who secured the following grades: three grade 9s, four 8s, two 7s and two merits. His achievements demonstrate his commitment and unrelenting diligence, with David also celebrating 100% attendance across year 11.
Not to be outshone by the boys, Denujaa Balachandran and Aniela Kozlovsky both attained superb results. Denujaa, who intends to study science and maths A-levels at Bede Academy Sixth Form, celebrates one grade 9, six grade 8s, two grade 7s and two distinctions. Aniela, who achieved one grade 9s, five grade 8s, two 7s and two distinctions, is keen to continue to build on her academic success in A-level religious studies, alongside psychology and biology.

Bede Academy are incredibly proud of many of our students who have overcome adversity to achieve huge success. Kristina Abbas, whose family are from Kurdistan, escaped the war in Syria to come to Blyth. She has achieved an outstanding set of results which reflect her persistence and determination. These include two grade 7s, including one in English Literature, three 6s, two grade 5s, one 4 and two merits. Hiba Tahan celebrates her fantastic success at Bede Academy, achieving two grade 7s, five grade 6s and two grade 4s. She is looking forward to continuing her journey into sixth form.

Other students have celebrated results which have opened opportunities for them in vocational pathways. This includes Tyler Blackburn, who achieved 9 GSCEs, including a distinction* in Performing Arts, who will be continuing his education with Azure Garden Centre college, alongside several other students.

This year, more students than ever have overcome significant barriers and disadvantage to achieve success. Their results are a powerful reflection of their hard work, the support of their families, and the dedication of the staff who have believed in them every step of the way.”
Bede Academy Sixth Form offers A-Levels and vocational qualifications along with nationally recognised technical provision (T-Level Engineering, Health and Digital). Bede Academy have received a record number of sixth form applications, both internal and external, and look forward to welcoming students into Year 12 in September.
