Pupils and staff at St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Billingham have “turned over a new leaf” as they move into their brand-new, state-of-the-art school building. Bright, welcoming, and designed with learning, wellbeing, and sustainability in mind, the new facility provides the perfect environment for children to grow, explore, and thrive.
After a long-awaited transition, children arrived full of enthusiasm and excitement on 5 January, eager to explore their new learning environment.
Pupils are encouraged to dream big
St. Joseph’s is proud to be an Eco-School, with the new building incorporating energy-efficient features and solar panels capable of generating its own renewable energy. The development reflects the school’s commitment to sustainability and its responsibility to future generations.
The new school stands as a testament to the strength of the local community and to the shared vision of creating the very best opportunities for children. More than bricks and mortar, the building represents a place where pupils are encouraged to dream big, develop confidence, and begin their lifelong journey of learning.
Angela Birrell, Head Teacher of St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, said: “We are absolutely elated to finally be in our new school building after what has felt like a long-awaited journey. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone at Bowmer + Kirkland for their outstanding work, as well as to Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust and the Department for Education for their invaluable support throughout this project.
