A-Level Results Day: Student Success Stories from Egglescliffe!

Egglescliffe School and Sixth Form College is celebrating another outstanding year of A-Level results, with students achieving exceptional academic success and securing places at leading universities.

Twin brothers Henry and Alexander Copland marked Results Day with excitement, having both applied to Cambridge University. The siblings have pushed each other throughout their studies, drawing on their friendly rivalry to achieve remarkable results. Henry will read geography at Homerton College, Cambridge, while Alexander will study law at Nottingham.

Formula One in Schools competitor Tom Oyston also celebrated strong results, securing A grades in geography, history, and economics. Tom, who was part of Egglescliffe’s F1 team that placed third in the North East this year, will now read law at Sheffield University. “I enjoy learning about UK law and hope to pursue a career in commercial or employment law,” he said.

Egglescliffe students are excelling across a wide range of pursuits. Former national gymnast Nieve McManus, who has overcome significant personal challenges, achieved grades B, B, D and will now read psychology at Teesside University. Nieve, a British champion who competed for Scotland in the European Championships, hopes to use her experiences to support others through her future career. “I’m determined to help others facing similar challenges and am excited to begin studying psychology,” she said. Nieve also enjoys dance and musical theatre in Yarm, participating for fun and personal fulfillment.

Head of School Nigel Gittins said: “I am incredibly proud of the effort, determination, and ambition shown by our students. Their results are a testament to their hard work and the unwavering support of our staff and families. Over 99 per cent of qualifications studied at Egglescliffe are academic A levels, and it’s inspiring to see so many achieving top grades and securing places at leading universities to study a wide range of subjects, from medicine to literature.

“We are equally proud of those students who have chosen alternative pathways, with several securing competitive apprenticeships that will launch them into exciting careers. This year’s results reflect the strength of our school community and our commitment to nurturing every student’s potential.”
