This course is for new governors in special schools who would like to learn more about SEND.

The training will cover:

• The legal duties of schools and governing boards in relation to pupils with SEND, the Code of Practice and the necessary documentation detailing their SEND provision that schools need to publish.
• How to develop an effective working relationship that allows for appropriate support and challenge between governors and school leaders.
• How core roles are applied in a special school setting.

At the end of the training, you will:

• Have a good understanding of the statutory duties around SEND.
• Understand how to use information to make informed decisions and fulfil your strategic role.
