Patron’s Dinner 2026 – Pillars of Our Community

Grand Hotel, Gosforth

Thu 12 March 2026

18:30 - 00:00

Join us for the fifteenth annual Patron’s Dinner, an evening dedicated to celebrating the dedication, strength and impact of our region’s school community. Held in honour of our Patron, Lord Puttnam of Queensgate, this exclusive black-tie event brings together 500 CEOs, Head Teachers, and Senior Leaders from Schools North East Partner Schools and Trusts for a night of connection, recognition and inspiration.

Pillars of Our Community, pays tribute to the Head Teachers, senior leaders, and school staff of all types, whose contributions shape the daily lives of young people and anchors our communities through times of change, challenge and progress. Just as strong foundations support and steady the structures around them, our school leaders provide the stability, guidance and resolve that enable children and families across the North East to thrive.

From safeguarding the wellbeing of pupils to driving whole-community initiatives, from leading through financial pressures to nurturing the next generation of teachers, these leaders play a vital role that often goes unseen. Yet their impact is profound. They are mentors, protectors, champions and advocates – foundations upon which brighter futures are built.

This event is a celebration of the people who support our communities, who respond first in moments of crisis, and who remain committed to every child’s potential.

Throughout the evening we will reflect on the indispensable role of educational leadership, hear insights from our guest speaker, and shine a light on the individuals who support and sustain our region’s school communities. As we honour the pillars of today, we also look forward with optimism to the foundations they are laying for tomorrow.

Let us come together to celebrate the leaders who are the foundations of our community – and whose strength, vision and dedication continue to shape the future of the North East.

Invitations are sent to all Schools North East Partner School and Partner Trust representatives. If you believe you should have received and invitation, please email events@schoolsnortheast.com.

Event Overview

Jess Clarke

Jess Clarke

Former Lioness

Jessica Anne Clarke is a distinguished English footballer whose story extends far beyond the pitch. Her journey has been marked by resilience, having overcome a life-changing accident that significantly altered her appearance, as well as facing racial and gender-based adversity. These experiences have shaped her into a powerful voice for change.

Today, Jess is in a unique position to inspire others. Through her own lived experiences, she
is passionate about empowering individuals facing both internal and external barriers. She
shares these insights through a personal initiative aimed at education, growth, and social
impact.

Clarke began her football journey at Leeds United, joining at the Under-16 level and making
her senior debut at just 16. During her time at the club, she played in three consecutive FA
Women's Cup Finals scoring in the 2008 final—and helped Leeds secure their first major
silverware by winning the Premier League Cup in 2010.

In 2010, she signed with Lincoln Ladies in what was considered a major move. She
remained a key player through the club's transition to Notts County in 2014, earning a
nomination for the PFA Women's Players’ Player of the Year due to her consistent
performances.

Jess joined Liverpool in 2017, where she made 68 appearances and showcased her
versatility and leadership. After a career-threatening injury, she continued her playing career
with Durham, bringing a wealth of experience and determination to the team.

Internationally, Clarke has represented England at every level from Under-17 to the senior
squad. She made her senior debut in 2009 against South Africa, and scored in her second
appearance against Scotland. She played a vital role in England’s UEFA Women's Euro
2009 campaign most notably in the semi-final win over the Netherlands and also featured in
the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup and as part of Team GB at the 2012 London Olympics.

With over 50 caps for England, Jess contributed to many significant moments in the
Lionesses' history. She is one of only 25 Black women to have represented England at
senior level, and was awarded legacy number 168 by the FA during the 50th anniversary of
the team’s first international match.

Jessica Clarke's career stands as a testament to her talent, courage, and unwavering
commitment on and off the field. She remains a prominent and inspiring figure in women's
football and beyond.

Tyne Bridge Restoration – Travel Information

If you are planning to travel to the conference by car, please remember that the Tyne Bridge is currently undergoing major restoration works and is down to one lane each way.

We recommend avoiding the Tyne Bridge as there are expected delays of up to 40 minutes at peak travel times. Heavy congestion is expected on the Quayside route, Swing Bridge and routes to and from Redheugh Bridge and all approaches to the Tyne Bridge from both Newcastle and Gateshead sides.

Public transport is strongly advised when travelling to and from Newcastle city centre and Gateshead town centre, whether or not you now drive over the Tyne. For those who can’t use public transport, other river crossings that drivers could use include the A19, with the Tyne Tunnel connecting North Shields and Jarrow. Further west, motorists could cross the Tyne via the A1 on Blaydon Bridge or Scotswood Bridge, which connects the A694 and A695.

Whichever route you decide to use, we advise planning ahead, allow more time for your journeys, and expect delays.
