As the new academic year begins, we’d like to extend a warm welcome back to all our schools, academies, and education partners. We know September is one of the busiest times of the year, so we’ve shared some key information and important updates from our service below.
Not using your IT devices for 6 weeks can throw up some unexpected issues on your return with expired passwords, unplugged kit and updated software to name a few. The start of September is the busiest time of year for our Help Desk and Support Teams, particularly during the first week. Rest assured, we have our full complement of staff out in the field on visits, manning the phones, web chat, and email.
Should you have to wait longer than usual for a response, please bear with us as we try and address all of our calls in order of priority and time of contact. We aim to get to everyone within our SLAs and get your IT issue sorted as soon as possible.
From the 14 October 2025, Microsoft will stop providing security updates for your Windows 10 devices. To ensure that schools across North Yorkshire remain secure and protected from the risks of running outdated systems, NYES Digital is here to assist you.
Do you know how many Windows 10 devices you currently have in your school? Have you planned how and when you will replace or upgrade these devices?
To help you with this transition, NYES Digital is offering a free computer audit/assessment for all NYES Digital customers. This assessment will identify which devices can be upgraded and which may need replacing. Based on the results, we can create tailored quotations to help ensure all your devices are either migrated to Windows 11 or securely decommissioned, avoiding any risks associated with unsupported Windows 10 machines after October.

As you’re aware, ScholarPack and Integris will reach end-of-life in February 2026. To ensure continuity and avoid disruption to your school’s data management, it’s essential to begin planning your transition to a new School MIS.

Keeping your website accurate and current is crucial. Outdated information can cause confusion and frustration, leading to unnecessary phone calls and emails. A quick review now can save you a lot of time and effort in September.
Here are a few key areas that are often overlooked:
- Term dates and school calendar – parents often visit a school website to check term dates. Make sure the 2025/26 academic year is clearly displayed and easy to find, along with inset days, half-term breaks, and key events.
- Uniform – is your uniform information up to date? Check for changes to the policy, suppliers, or requirements for different year groups. An accurate uniform page helps parents prepare properly and avoids last-minute surprises.
- School menus – ensure lunch menus are correct and up to date, including payment details or dietary information.
- Key notices and announcements – keep important updates easy to find on your homepage. This could include class announcements, changes to drop-off procedures, or details of welcome back events.
It’s also worth considering the overall health of your website. A well-maintained site not only improves the experience for parents and staff but can also support compliance with Ofsted requirements.
Checking areas such as navigation, mobile responsiveness, accessibility, and how easy it is to find information will help ensure your site continues to meet expectations.
