Thinking about starting the OPAL Primary Programme at your school?

Join us and be inspired by observing one of the best school playtimes in the country. Where kids get muddy, build dens, take risks, explore, experiment and achieve every single day!

School improvement for outstanding playtimes

The OPAL Primary Programme supports schools to develop key areas around policy, planning, risk management, staffing, design, grounds development, resources and playwork training.

This event is for headteachers from schools interested in starting the OPAL Primary Programme. If the head is unable to attend, please send a suitable deputy. We allow for two tickets per school, so you are also welcome to bring a member of your teaching staff.

Agenda

10am Arrival and welcome

10:15am–10:40am Presentation from the headteacher

Join the headteacher to hear about their journey to outstanding playtimes and take the opportunity to ask questions.

10:40am–11:00am Observation of playtime

Come and see a platinum OPAL playtime in action – ask the children about how they manage risk and the grown-ups about the changes they have seen.

11am–11:45am Introduction to OPAL

Hear from an OPAL mentor during this introductory presentation on the OPAL Primary Programme.

About Esh Winning Academy

Esh Winning Academy started their OPAL journey in 2015 and they are now an OPAL Honours Award school. This incredible achievement is testament to the commitment, value and passion they have shown towards continually developing their playtimes. The play offer at Esh Winning Academy is outstanding. Even though play is now fully embedded, the school strives to continually incorporate new ideas, and they allow children to lead the way. The advice from the headteacher to schools considering starting their OPAL journey is, “Do it! OPAL has transformed our whole school.
