Gosforth Academy celebrates achievement and outstanding GCSE success
There was a fantastic atmosphere at Gosforth Academy this morning as students collected their GCSE results and celebrated the culmination of years of hard work, commitment and determination.
Today is an opportunity to recognise everything this year group has accomplished. From exceptional academic outcomes to personal milestones and individual successes, our students have much to celebrate as they take their next steps towards further study, training and future careers.
Throughout their time at Gosforth Academy, these young people have embraced opportunities, overcome challenges and made a valuable contribution to our school community. Today’s results reflect not only their academic success, but also the ambition, resilience and character they have developed along the way.
Some whole school highlights include:
- 84% of students gained a Grade 4+ in English
- 83% of students gained a 4+ in Maths
- 84% of students gained a 4+ in two Sciences
- Over a third of grades awarded were at a Grade 7+
- 63% gained a Grade 5+ (Strong Pass) across English and Maths
For many students, the next chapter will begin at Gosforth Academy Sixth Form, where they will continue their studies across a wide range of A Level and vocational courses. Others will progress to specialist colleges, apprenticeships and training opportunities. Whatever path they choose, we are proud to see them moving forward with confidence and purpose.
Our Principal, Preit Chahal, shared his pride:
“Once again I am delighted by the success of our students this year. As Principal, what is most satisfying is that we have achieved longstanding success over a number of years now which I think is always a mark of a great school. However, headline figures aside, the most enjoyable thing about results day is spending time with students and their families to recognise their individual successes that have brought them to this point. Every student has their own story and their own successes to celebrate, and it has been wonderful to share those moments with them this morning”.

The strong partnership between school and home plays an important role in helping our students flourish and achieve their potential. I never underestimate the wonderful support of parents/carers who make our school so special.
As we celebrate today’s successes, we look forward to welcoming many students into our Sixth Form and following the journeys of those pursuing opportunities elsewhere.
