Stuart McGhee
Stuart is CEO of Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust, a multi-academy trust of 35 schools across the North East. He was previously Head Teacher of an outstanding secondary school, before moving into system leadership as a CEO. He is a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching.
He contributes to national education policy through the Department for Education CEO Advisory Group and the Confederation of School Trusts Policy Advisory Group. Stuart’s career spans school, trust and regional leadership, supported by earlier experience in industry in the North East.
He is an active member of Schools North East, serving on its Advisory Board and contributing to roundtables and events. His motivation to become a Trustee of Schools North East lies in his strong belief in the organisation’s role as the collective voice for schools in the region. He brings a system-wide perspective grounded in leading across 35 schools, with experience of governance, strategy and accountability at scale. He is committed to independence, evidence-informed advocacy and strengthening Schools North East’s regional and national influence.
Stuart believes collaboration is essential to improving outcomes for children and sees Schools North East as central to enabling this across the region.
