Cybersecurity in Education: Lessons from a Real School Attack

Clive Owen LLP, in partnership with the North East Business Resilience Centre (NEBRC), is delighted to invite education sector leaders to an informative and timely webinar focused on cyber security.
The session will be jointly delivered by cyber security expert Detective Inspector Martin Wilson, Deputy Director of the NEBRC, and Wendy Pattison, Chief Operating Officer at the Excel Academy Partnership.
Together, they will explore the growing threat of cyber-attacks in schools, drawing on a real-life case study of Framwellgate School, a large secondary school that experienced a significant cyber breach.
Martin will provide expert insight into the evolving cyber threat landscape, while Wendy will share first-hand experience from within the education sector. With almost 30 years’ experience in financial and business management, Wendy brings a practical perspective shaped by the cyber incident at Framwellgate School in September 2023.
Since then, Wendy and Martin have worked closely to reflect on the lessons learned and to help other schools strengthen their resilience, preparedness and response to cyber threats.
