Year 3 pupils embark on memorable Edinburgh adventure – a highlight of NEAT Experiences!

A recent trip to Edinburgh proved to be an unforgettable adventure for a Year 3 class from Whitehouse Primary, part of NEAT Academy Trust and NEAT Experiences.

For many of the young explorers, this trip marked significant firsts, which is something they’ll never forget! As just two examples, for some pupils, it was their first experience of a train journey, while for others, it was their first time leaving the country.

Each stop provided a unique learning experience

Once in Edinburgh, the children enjoyed a packed itinerary of iconic sights. They explored the fascinating Edinburgh Zoo, marvelled at the historic Edinburgh Castle, strolled along the famous Royal Mile, and relaxed in the beautiful gardens near the National Gallery.

Each stop provided a unique learning opportunity and a chance to create lasting memories.

This exciting excursion was a prime example of the NEAT Experiences program, designed to ensure that every pupil attending a NEAT school gets the opportunity to experience a range of enriching opportunities throughout their primary education.

If they thought this was good…

Looking ahead, future NEAT Experiences include Year 4’s first overnight stay away from home, encouraging further independence. In Year 5, pupils will embark on a visit to London, before ending their primary school journey with a four-night residential trip! Edinburgh was just the beginning…

Chris Zarraga, Director of Schools North East, said: “We were delighted to learn of this exciting trip to Edinburgh zoo – the first trip of many.

“These experiences are vital in developing independence and confidence, and beyond the invaluable life skills gained, it’s clear from the beaming faces of the Year 3 adventurers that they had an absolutely fantastic time!”
