CEO Sleepout Middlesbrough: North East leaders unite for vital cause

Earlier this month saw dedicated leaders from across the Tees Valley brave the elements at Middlesbrough Football Club for the CEO Sleepout, a now national initiative born right here in our region to raise crucial funds for homelessness charities.

By midnight, an impressive £12,000 had already been raised for local causes.

Among those taking part was Christina Jones, CEO of River Tees Multi-Academy Trust, highlighting a deeply important connection for our schools.

A powerful reminder that tackling issues like homelessness requires collective effort

As Christina poignantly shared, “As someone who grew up in poverty I want to help and support our local communities. For me, having a secure place to sleep is vital if we want our children and young people to learn.”

Christina, alongside Lorraine (Charity Manager), endured the chilly night to raise awareness and vital funds, not only for the broader CEO Sleepout initiative but also for their own newly established charity.

River Tees More is the charitable arm of River Tees Multi-Academy Trust, and is dedicated to supporting their learners and families. This local action, driven by a profound understanding of the challenges faced within our communities, exemplifies the commitment of our schools to the holistic well-being of their students.

The success of the Middlesbrough CEO Sleepout and the passionate involvement of leaders like Christina Jones demonstrate the strength and compassion within the North East. It’s a powerful reminder that tackling issues like homelessness requires collective effort and a deep understanding of its impact on our communities, especially our young people.
