Inclusive Education for Diverse School Communities (free webinar)
Online
Date: Tuesday 4th March
Time: 3.30pm – 4.30pm
Location: Online Via Zoom
Creating a sense of belonging and trust for students from diverse faith and cultural backgrounds is vital for:
- Fostering a respectful school culture
- Improving pupil attendance
- Develop pupils skills of empathy and positive behaviour
Therefore, it’s important in all areas of school life from behaviour to curriculum that we build trust and a sense of belonging.
In this webinar Richard Phillips, Professor of Human Geography (he/him), University of Sheffield, shares some research findings on student loneliness, highlighting the value of belonging and trust in education. Richard asks what educators can do to help students from diverse backgrounds to feel they belong. We will also be joined by some of our Life Lessons school partners who will share their real-life experiences with delivering PSHE/RSHE lessons to students from different faith and cultural backgrounds.
You will leave this session with practical strategies and a free resource to help you deliver respectful, values-based education across multiple areas of school life. As well as ways to manage complex viewpoints, and promote a culture of understanding, empathy, and positive behaviour.
