Councils will be given the opportunity to open all types of school
17/12/24 – Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill announced that councils will be given the opportunity to open all types of school, not just academies, so they can meet the needs of local parents. Schools and local authorities will also work together when it comes to school admissions and place planning. For example, they will have greater powers to direct the admission of an individual child into both maintained schools and academies, when a place is needed for that child.
