Amazing offers on school residentials!
If your summer break was filled with blue skies and fresh air, it’s probably easy to see why the benefits of learning outside a classroom are so well documented.
A study by Natural England found that 95% of children who participated in outdoor learning reported improved mental well-being. Feeling better after being in nature no doubt sounds familiar, but the advantages don’t just end there. In a survey conducted by the Field Studies Council, 91% of teachers observed increased confidence among students after participating in residential outdoor learning experiences.
North Yorkshire Outdoor Learning Service have been helping to get young people active, outdoors and in touch with nature for more than 80 years and offer a fantastic mix of land and water based outdoor learning programmes from primary school age to post 16. The team say they get a real kick from seeing groups leave with a newfound confidence, team building skills, strong friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
Head of service Teresa Thorp said:
“We want all young people to grow up with a love of the outdoors and a passion for adventure. Lots of adults tell us that they still remember their residential, and everything they gained from it. We don’t want anyone to miss out on that, but we know that the cost of living is still a concern for lots of families. That’s why we’ve dropped all our prices, with a three day residential in 2025/26 starting from just £139 per person or £259 per person for five days!”
There are some amazing new offers that the service are excited to share too. Schools bringing 60 young people or more will get a discounted rate with up to £111 off per person for bookings from 1 April 2025. This is a great option for smaller schools to come together as a larger group.
Any school with a new or existing booking for 2025/26 will also be able to take advantage of a very special time limited offer if they confirm their 2026/27 residential before 31 October 2024, paying the 2025/26 price and avoiding any inflation increase for their 2026/27 booking. Some schools prefer to visit on a weekend so there are great value rates for a Friday to Sunday programme as well, with prices starting from £158 per person.
You can choose either Bewerley Park Outdoor Education Centre in Pateley Bridge surrounded by the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or East Barnby Outdoor Education Centre with the North York Moors National Park as a backdrop and the coast on your doorstep.
Teresa added:
“We’re lucky to be able to make use of some incredible natural assets and also take groups to locations including Brimham Rocks, Dalby forest and Runswick Bay to name but a few! Our highly qualified, professional and experienced teachers and tutors are passionate about bringing out the very best of real outdoor adventure.”
The service can work with you to plan a bespoke residential and action packed programme that meets your needs with a range of exciting activities to choose from. Once you arrive, everything is included.
