Dame Maura Regan DBE OBE snaps up Lifetime Achievement Award

Let’s say a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Dame Maura Regan DBE OBE!

Recently, Maura – former CEO of Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust and a Schools North East Trustee  – won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the MAT Excellence Awards 2024, and we couldn’t be more delighted for her.

Totally deserved and not only a win for Maura personally, but a win for the entire North East region.

What are the MAT Excellence Awards?

The MAT Excellence Awards set out to acknowledge and celebrate the remarkable achievements of multi-academy trusts and organisations right across the country.

The captivating ceremony and glamorous gala dinner highlighted the significant impact trusts and organisations have had on pupils, staff, and their communities. Over 350 guests attended the joyous evening, sharing inspiring anecdotes and celebrating outstanding achievements.

An award that commemorates a lifetime of achievements

Dame Maura’s illustrious career witnessed the remarkable expansion of Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust to encompass 35 schools, all while she actively nurtured the broader trust community.

Yet, her most profound influence resonated within her own trust.

One former staff member beautifully encapsulated Dame Maura’s influential leadership: “She inspired me to become the person, teacher, and pastoral leader I always aspired to be.”

Chris Zarraga, Director of Schools North East, said: “Congratulations to Maura for this incredible achievement. Her dedication and hard work have truly made a lasting impact – this award is just one piece of evidence of this.

“This recognition is very well-deserved, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for you. Here’s to celebrating your incredible journey and all the lives you’ve touched along the way.”

A round of applause for all winners and runners up

We’d also like to send a huge congratulations to all people, trusts, and organisations who won or were shortlisted for an award at the MAT Excellence Awards.

Prince Regent Street Trust were shortlisted in the Trust Executive Team of the Year Award, and Consilium Academies  for the Inclusivity Award. Terrific efforts!

Commitment and hard work across the sector should never go unnoticed, so we sincerely hope you’re all proud of your achievements. We know we are.
