River Tees Academy Grangetown School recently celebrated its 1st birthday!
On September 1 2023, River Tees Academy Grangetown School celebrated its first birthday. Happy belated birthday!
The school, based in Middlesbrough, is open to learners aged 5-19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs; some pupils will have co-occurrence of Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
Marking the first anniversary was not just about celebrating a milestone, but also commemorating the stories, the adventures, and the transformations that have taken place.
Lots of memories made and achievements to celebrate
This unique Academy offers bespoke education with a carefully crafted curriculum that’s adapted to resonate with the needs and aspirations of every student.
Over the past year, their students have embarked on numerous activities, showcasing their talents, resilience, and growth. Activities include:
- Trustees treating their deserving pupils to an Ice Cream Day.
- Creative KS3 students took to the skies, designing their very own rockets.
- A memorable walking adventure to Captain Cook’s Monument, delving into local history.
- Splashes of joy at Ellerton Lake, where watersports took centre stage.
- Witnessing the miracle of life with hatching chicks in spring.
- Preparing students for the world of work with interview training.
- A day of discovery during a trip to the Life Centre in Newcastle.
- A global connection made real with visitors from Texas!
The future’s looking bright
River Tees Academy Grangetown is about ensuring excellence for every child, every day. As they look back on this monumental occasion, they’re filled with pride, and as they look forward, they’re brimming with hope.
