Hurworth School celebrate GCSE results
Hurworth School in Darlington had their students collect their GCSE results today.
Jessie Walker is the top performer at Hurworth School, near Darlington, and now plans to become a doctor.
Jessie cried tears of joy after achieving seventh grade 9s and two grade 8s.
She said: “I’m really emotional because I’ve worked so hard. The school has been a fantastic source of support and the plan now is to study medicine and maybe work as a GP.”
Daniel Owen is the top performing boy in maths and sciences at Hurworth School, near Darlington.
Daniel achieved grade 9s in biology, maths, chemistry, computer science, physics, and English language.
He said: “I’m shocked. I was expected to score highly in maths and science but I’m really pleased with English.”
Daniel plans to work in computing.
Oliver Shaw has every reason to be proud of himself after achieving ‘the most improved performance’ at Hurworth School, near Darlington.
Oliver is dyslexic and struggled to read and write when he arrived at the school.
However, through the support of his family and teachers, he has passed six GCSEs, including English and English Literature. He also gained a Grade 8 in art and wants to be a bricklayer.
Mum Elizabeth said:
“We’re exceptionally proud of him because of everything he’s had to overcome.”
