Good luck to North East Schools and staff in TES Awards 2020

The TES School Awards 2020 will take place tonight and a number of North East schools and staff have been nominated. All the schools shortlisted are a testament to how hard North East Schools work for their pupils and Schools North East is very proud to support the work they do.

The shortlisted schools are:

  • Beaumont Hill Academy – Alternative Provision of the Year
  • Grange Park Primary School – Creative School of the Year
  • Harrow Gate Primary – Primary School of the Year
  • Staindrop CE Academy Primary School of the Year
  • Anne Carruthers, Cleaswell Hill School – SBL of the Year
  • Sedgefield School – Secondary School of the Year
  • David Davies, Sedgefield School – Head Teacher of the Year

David Davies was proud of both of these accolades saying: “In the context of the many excellent and committed Head Teachers across the UK, being shortlisted for the TES Head Teacher of the Year award is a very humbling experience. Like other Head Teachers I don’t go to school each day to get such recognition, and in some ways to be singled out is a little embarrassing given that a Head Teacher can only be successful because of the outstanding work of others, the staff team within his or her school. I am fortunate therefore to have not only made the shortlist for the TES Head Teacher of the Year award, but the entire Sedgefield Community College team have eased my feeling of unease somewhat by also being shortlisted for the TES Secondary School of the Year!

“The team at Sedgefield are a true credit to the profession and without doubt exceptionally talented, genuinely caring and infectiously positive people who share a determination to ensure that students enjoy coming to school each day and develop into fantastic young adults. Regardless of the outcome of the awards event, I know that there will not be a better staff team than that at Sedgefield Community College, and I am delighted that they are being acknowledged in this way and also proud to be recognised as Head Teacher of such a wonderful school.”

Congratulations to all those in the running and best of luck.
